Delaware Fury 12U went to Heat at the Beach this weekend and brought home the CHIP in the 12U Open Division!
On Saturday, the Fury girls dominated the competition, outscoring their opponents 34-2. In game 1, Ava Miller and Myranda Talmadge combined for a shutout. In game 2, it was the Myranda Talmadge show as she delivered a complete game no-hitter while striking out 18 batters. It was the most dominant pitching performance most of us have seen. Game 3 saw Hayden Bennett and Ava Link combine to pitch another shutout.
On the offensive side of the ball, Team Captain Kendal Leech led the way with a .714 batting average while Maeleigh Hunt, Bella Holl, and Brooke Currier all hit above .500.
On Sunday the Fury girls took the field as a top seed. In game 1, Ava Miller took home the win on the mound while Hunt, Miller and Talmadge and delivered two hits en route to a 10-3 win.
I’m game 2, Talmadge toed the mound against a strong Delaware Magic team and was in total control, surrendering only 4 hits in 7 innings while striking out 14. Talmadge also found her groove at the plate this weekend, coming up with big hits time and time again.
In the Championship game, the Fury girls made big play after big play. Ava Watkins and Brooke Currier turned a sensational double play. Not to be outdone, Kendal Leech made a jumping grab at 3rd and doubled off the runner at second. Talmadge again rose to the occasion on the mound and delivered yet another outstanding pitching performance as the Fury celebrated a 7-2 win.
In two tournaments so far this season, the Fury 12U is 10-1 with two championship game appearances and one title.
