12U Softball Does It Again!!
The Delaware Fury 12U does it again! The Fury girls bring home the CHIP in the USSSA Play for the Blue Line tournament in Princeton Junction, NJ.
The Fury girls started the weekend on Saturday, going 1-1-1 and headed into bracket play as the 5 seed.
In bracket play, the Fury girls got off to a quick start in a 16-4 win to move to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, they met a tough Jersey Jaguars team that pushed them into extra innings. The Fury bats were too much and sent the girls to the semifinals where they faced off against the team that beat them on Saturday. The girls got off to a slow start, finding themselves down 2-0. However, it was all Fury after that as they won 6-2 and headed to the championship. In the title game, Ava Miller was masterful, throwing a 1 hit shutout and the Fury bats exploded in the 5th inning, sending 5 runners across the plate and sealing the 6-0 victory, avenging the tie from the day before.
Every single girl on the roster contributed this weekend. Bella Holl led the offense with 12 hits while Brooke Currier and Myranda Talmadge added 10 each. On the defensive side, spectacular plays by Hayden Bennett and Ava Watkins highlighted the championship run.
Talmadge, Miller, Currier, and Ava Link all picked up mound time over the weekend and delivered key performances.
So far this Spring, the 12U has been to 4 championship games in their 5 tournament appearances. They’ve brought home 2 tournament championships and 2 tournament finalists.
