The Delaware Fury 12U are the USSSA Open Delaware State Champions!
In very hot and humid temperatures, the Fury girls go undefeated to bring home the State title.
The girls got off to a good start on Saturday with a bye in round 1 and a 10-4 victory in the quarterfinals.
On Sunday, the Fury had a tough come from behind victory that saw Bella Holl and Ava Miller triple in the final inning to tie the game and Kendal Leech and Ava Watkins single to put the game away.
In the finals, the Fury again found themselves down. Trailing 2-1 when Holl and Leech teamed up with Brooke Currier to take the lead 3-2. The Fury pushed another one across when Ava Link scored on a play at the plate.
The Fury took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning. Myranda Talmadge, who pitched strong all weekend, struck out the first batter. The second batter reached on a walk. Bella Holl took care of that when the runner tried to steal second. Bella made a perfect throw to get the girl out a second. With two outs, a soft ground ball to Maeleigh Hunt ended the game and the Fury girls celebrated their third championship in a row and their fourth this Spring/Summer.
You can catch these girls this weekend in Camden, Delaware, at the First State Firecracker USSSA TikTok challenge.
